O94-O99: Other obstetric conditions, not elsewhere classified

O97: Death from sequelae of obstetric causes

"Death from sequelae of obstetric causes" is a general classification for medical conditions directly related to complications that arise during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, which ultimately result in the death of the mother. These complications can occur at any stage of pregnancy, childbirth or during the postpartum period. They often include extreme blood loss (hemorrhage), eclampsia and preeclampsia (high blood pressure related conditions), infections, or complications from caesarean sections. Other conditions could be blood clots, complications of anesthesia, or underlying health issues that become problematic during pregnancy like heart disease or diabetes. These situations may cause serious issues with the cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems leading to rapid deterioration of mother's health and eventually death. The symptoms vary depending on the specific condition but can include severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, high fever, fast heartbeat, and difficulty breathing. The progression of the disease can also be unpredictable and may accelerate rapidly if not given immediate medical attention.
