O31: Complications specific to multiple gestation
O31.1: Continuing pregnancy after abortion of one fetus or more
You became pregnant with more than one child. You are still pregnant, but you had a miscarriage. We use the word miscarriage when one or more children are prematurely expelled from the womb. There can be various reasons for a miscarriage. It may be that children do not continue to develop properly and die in the womb. It may also be that other causes lead to the miscarriage and children die immediately afterwards.
