O08: Complications following abortion and ectopic and molar pregnancy
O08.7: Other venous complications following abortion and ectopic and molar pregnancy
This type of premature end to pregnancy may involve a miscarriage or a hydatidiform mole (molar pregnancy), for example. A hydatidiform mole is when a child fails to form a fertilized egg cell, and a benign tumor develops instead. It may also be a case of a pregnancy that failed to develop in the normal area inside the womb.
Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.
The veins can become inflamed or blocked, for example. Inflamed or blocked veins can be painful, if they are pressed, for example. When veins get inflamed the skin above the affected vein can turn red or swell up. When veins get blocked the blood in the affected area is no longer able to flow as well. The affected area can swell up as a result.
