O02: Other abnormal products of conception
O02.9: Abnormal product of conception, unspecified
A woman has two ovaries. Each ovary normally takes turns maturing one egg every month. These eggs may be fertilized by sperm. The eggs pass to the uterus through the fallopian tube. Normally, a fertilized egg cell develops into a child.
This development can be disturbed for various reasons. The child may then not develop properly or not develop at all. The placenta may also not develop properly. The placenta normally nourishes the child during pregnancy.
