N90.4: Leukoplakia of vulva
The external female genital organs include the labia, the clitoris and the skin around the vagina.
The tissue in the body is made up of cells. A tissue sample is taken to examine the cells in the skin or mucous membrane.
Cells in the top layer of your skin or mucous membrane have multiplied and mutated. The skin or mucous membrane has become a little firmer at the affected site and white patches are forming.
These changes to the skin or mucous membrane do not usually produce any symptoms. However, the cells may alter more over time and start to multiply uncontrollably. This may lead to cancer.
