N88: Other noninflammatory disorders of cervix uteri
N88.1: Old laceration of cervix uteri
The uterus or womb sits in the pelvis and is pear-shaped. The narrower part extends downward into the vagina and is called the cervix. When a woman is pregnant, the child grows in her uterus.
An injury to the cervix can happen as the result of childbirth or medical treatment, for example. Tissue can stick together at some point after an injury to the cervix. Lacerations or scars may also remain.
The injury can cause various symptoms. For example, women sometimes see changes to their vaginal discharge.
