N29: Other disorders of kidney and ureter in diseases classified elsewhere

N29.1: Other disorders of kidney and ureter in infectious and parasitic diseases classified elsewhere

There are 2 kidneys in the body. There is one on each side of the spine just below the ribcage. Each kidney is made up of renal tissue and a renal pelvis. The renal tissue purifies the blood and, by doing so, produces urine. The urine gathers in the renal pelvis. The ureter is a thin, muscular tube in the abdomen. There is usually one ureter on each side. The urine flows from the kidney, via the ureter, to the bladder.

You also have a problem with your kidney or ureter due to another disorder. This disease is caused by pathogens.

If you have a problem with your kidneys or your ureter, you can get a fever, for example. Your side, between your abdomen and your back, can also be painful.
