N25: Disorders resulting from impaired renal tubular function
N25.1: Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate blood pressure and the mineral levels in the blood, among other things.
Urine is concentrated in the kidneys. The kidneys are stimulated by a messenger substance from the brain. However, your kidneys are not responding properly to this messenger substance. This means that your kidneys cannot concentrate the urine sufficiently. So people with this condition need to urinate frequently and also often feel very thirsty.
It may also alter the levels of minerals in the blood. Changes to the levels of minerals in the blood can make one feel weak or confused, for example.
