M43: Other deforming dorsopathies
M43.1: Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis is a spinal condition where one of the bones in the spine, known as a vertebra, slips out of place and moves forward over the bone beneath it. This condition typically happens in the lower back, but it can also occur in the cervical spine, or the neck region. Symptoms of spondylolisthesis can include lower back pain, stiffness, muscle tightness, and sometimes numbness or weakness in one or both legs, dependent on the severity of the condition. If the displacement is not large, you may not experience any noticeable signs or symptoms. However, for some, it can compress the spinal nerves and lead to serious problems such as loss of bladder control. Spondylolisthesis can be caused by various factors including degeneration with aging, stress fractures caused by repetitive trauma, and certain diseases or conditions.
