M02: Reactive arthropathies

M02.2: Postimmunization arthropathy

Postimmunization arthropathy is a medical condition characterized by joint inflammation following an immunization or vaccination. This condition can occur as an immune system response to an injected vaccine, with the body mistakenly attacking healthy joint tissues, mistaking them for harmful invaders. It's not contagious or transmitted from one person to another. Common symptoms typically include pain, swelling, and stiffness in the affected joints that may occur shortly after the administration of a vaccine. The disease progression varies, with some individuals experiencing a mild, temporary discomfort while others may have prolonged symptoms. This condition mostly affects the joints though it can sometimes impact the surrounding tissues. It's important to note that symptoms typically recede over time, but if persistent discomfort occurs, it requires medical evaluation to manage the symptoms properly.
