L85: Other epidermal thickening
L85.1: Acquired keratosis [keratoderma] palmaris et plantaris
Normally, the body forms a thicker skin on areas of the skin that are subject to pressure over a long period of time. This thickened skin is called callused skin. Callused skin is tougher than normal skin and is supposed to protect the relevant places from further pressure.
Various diseases make the body form too much horny skin. The affected parts of the skin are thickened and dry.
