L81: Other disorders of pigmentation
L81.3: Café au lait spots
The darker colored areas are called café au lait spots because they can look light brown like milky coffee. The skin forms too much pigmentation in the affected areas. If there is too much pigmentation, then the skin in the affected areas will appear darker than normal.
Café au lait spots are evenly colored and have a clearly recognizable edge. They can be roundish and are mainly found on the upper part of the body and on the arms and legs.
If several café au lait spots appear, then this can be evidence of another disease.
