L74.4: Anhidrosis
Sweat glands are located just below the surface of the skin and are distributed throughout the body and produce sweat. There are congenital diseases where the sweat glands are missing in some areas of the skin. Other conditions can cause the small pores leading from the sweat gland to the surface of the skin to be closed. This can be caused by various skin disorders, other conditions or injuries, for example.
If too little or no sweat is formed, then the sweat is not able to cool the affected areas of the skin down as normal. Individual areas of the skin or the entire surface of the skin can be affected. If large areas of the skin or the entire surface of the skin are affected, then this can also lead to other symptoms such as headache, tiredness or a rapid heartbeat.
