L67: Hair colour and hair shaft abnormalities
L67.1: Variations in hair colour
Hair color can change in the course of your life. This means most people’s hair looks gray or white in their old age. However, hair as a whole or individual hair strands can also become white as a result of various conditions. Various medicines or harmful substances can also cause the hair to become discolored. It may turn yellow or green, for example.
Some people also have different hair colors from birth. For example, they have single strands of hair of a different color or different hair colors on their head and beard.
