L66: Cicatricial alopecia [scarring hair loss]

L66.2: Folliculitis decalvans

Your scalp has been scarred by a long-term inflammation of your hair roots. As a result, the hair roots in the scalp have been destroyed so that new hair will no longer be able to grow. The areas at the crown of the scalp and the temples are usually affected. The skin often turns red first, and then becomes scaly. Then pus-filled crusts can form and the skin can become scarred. Certain bacteria probably play a part.
