L66: Cicatricial alopecia [scarring hair loss]
L66.1: Lichen planopilaris
Your hair loss is due to a skin inflammation. This inflammation is not caused by pathogens. An inflammation of this type often stems from the body’s own immune system. The inflammation destroys the hair roots so that no new hair can grow. This usually occurs at the forehead and the temples. But other areas of the body can also be affected. The nails can be affected, too. Hair is made from keratin, as are the nails of the hands and feet. Your body is unable to form this keratin normally.
