L50.0: Allergic urticaria
You are having an allergic reaction. An allergy involves the immune system overreacting to substances in the environment that are actually harmless. These may be foods or insect venom, for example.
The symptoms can vary in their severity. Certain areas of the skin usually swell up. These areas are often very itchy and red. The symptoms are similar to those that come from contact with stinging nettles. If the face is affected, you may have difficulties breathing and swallowing. This can be life-threatening.
The rash usually fades away again after a short time.
