L44: Other papulosquamous disorders
L44.0: Pityriasis rubra pilaris
The first sign of this condition is lots of small red to reddy-brown papules that form. There is a firm layer on top of each papule. The papules become larger over time and can coalesce into red areas as a result. These surface areas have a clearly recognizable edge and may have scaly patches. This condition can also cause the skin on palms and soles of the feet to thicken.
The skin condition can appear on different parts of the body. The exact cause of this skin condition is not yet known.
