L43: Lichen planus

L43.8: Other lichen planus

You have lichen planus. With this condition, the body’s own immune system is often not working properly. The skin condition may be caused by contact with pathogens or by skin injuries, for example. Your skin and mucous membrane have become inflamed as result.

Typically, flat bumps or papules with a reddish color appear on the skin. These areas can be itchy. You often see a lacy, white pattern on the bumps.

The mucous membrane, for example in the mouth, is also sometimes affected. You often see a lacy, white pattern. These changes may burn and be sore.

The bumps often fade away again after one to two years.
