L43: Lichen planus

L43.0: Hypertrophic lichen planus

You have lichen planus. With this condition, the body’s own immune system is often not working properly. The skin condition may be caused by contact with pathogens or by skin injuries, for example. Your skin has become inflamed as result.

Typically, flat bumps or papules with a reddish or brown color appear on the skin. These sites may be very itchy. Sometimes the bumps develop into large, wart-like areas.

The extensor sides of your forearms and lower legs are particularly affected.

The bumps often fade away again after one to two years.
