L08: Other local infections of skin and subcutaneous tissue
L08.1: Erythrasma
Your skin has become inflamed because you have been infected by certain bacteria. These bacteria are called corynebacteria.
When someone is infected by corynebacteria, their skin may turn red or brown in some places. The skin may discolor in the groins, the inside of the thighs, or in the armpits, for example. The skin in those places usually also becomes flaky. The affected parts of the skin may also have an unpleasant odor.
