L03.1: Cellulitis of other parts of limb
Cellulitis of other parts of the limb is an infection that commonly occurs on the skin and the tissues right beneath the skin. This condition can occur on any part of the body, but when it affects the limbs apart from the hands and feet, it is specifically referred to as this condition. You might notice a sudden spreading area of redness, tenderness, pain, swelling, and heat. The skin may look tight or glossy, and you might even have a fever or chills. This infection is often caused by bacteria that enter the skin through a break or crack, such as a cut, insect bite, or dry, flaking skin. Left untreated, cellulitis can rapidly escalate to become a life-threatening condition, as the bacteria may spread to the lymph nodes and bloodstream.
