K83: Other diseases of biliary tract

K83.3: Fistula of bile duct

The gallbladder is in the top right part of the abdomen below the liver. The liver produces bile. The bile flows through bile ducts to the gallbladder and is stored there. When needed, the bile flows through another bile duct to the intestine. There, the bile helps to digest fats.

There is a duct between the bile duct and another organ in your abdomen. That may for instance be a duct between the bile duct and stomach. Such a duct can develop when the wall of the bile duct ruptures. If this rupture has made contact with another organ, a connection between these organs may develop.
