K75: Other inflammatory liver diseases

K75.4: Autoimmune hepatitis

The liver is an important organ on the top right of the abdomen. For example, it helps with blood clotting and detoxifying the body. Nutrients from food are processed in the liver.

The liver may become inflamed for various reasons. Your immune system is attacking your own tissue. Your immune system may thus also damage liver cells. As a result, your liver has become inflamed.

If your liver is inflamed, you may have abdominal pain or a high temperature. Sometimes you may also have a feeling of pressure in your abdomen.
