K74: Fibrosis and cirrhosis of liver

K74.1: Hepatic sclerosis

The liver is an important organ on the top right of the abdomen. For example, it helps with blood clotting and detoxifying the body. Nutrients from food are processed in the liver.

There are many reasons for a damaged liver. These include for instance toxic substances or other diseases.

Your liver is hardened by the damage. The liver can sometimes heal again by itself after it has been damaged.

If a lot of tissue in the liver is hardened, the liver may then gradually lose its ability to perform its tasks. You will then feel feeble and tired, for example. The skin may look yellow and be itchy. It is also possible that you will initially have no symptoms.
