K66: Other disorders of peritoneum
K66.0: Peritoneal adhesions
The abdominal organs are located in the abdominal cavity. The inside of the abdominal cavity is covered by a thin membrane. This thin membrane also surrounds all the organs in the abdomen. The organs can move against each other thanks to this thin membrane.
Adhesions in the abdomen can occur for instance after an operation or inflammation. An operation or inflammation can cause scars to form. The membrane around the abdominal organs can then form adhesions. In that case, what may happen is that two organs adhere or grow together via strands of tissue.
Due to adhesions in your abdomen, you may have abdominal pain.
