K38: Other diseases of appendix
K38.2: Diverticulum of appendix
The appendix is usually located on the right side attached to the first part of the large intestine. The first part of the large intestine is also known as the cecum.
The intestines are like a flexible tube. There is a hollow space on the inside. The intestinal wall lies around this hollow space. The wall of your appendix is turned outward, or protruding. A very large number of people have protrusions on their intestines. The protrusions are encouraged by a low-fiber diet and a lack of exercise. Most of the time, the protrusions do not cause any symptoms. If the protrusions become inflamed, that may cause symptoms.
