K38: Other diseases of appendix
K38.1: Appendicular concretions
The appendix is usually located on the right side attached to the first part of the large intestine. The first part of the large intestine is also known as the cecum.
If the feces in the bowels thicken and accumulate, a stone may be produced. This stone can be roughly as large as a cherry pit. Because of the fecalith (stone of feces), you may have pain during bowel movements or abdominal pain. It is also possible for a fecalith to obstruct the appendix. The appendix may then become inflamed.
