J95: Postprocedural respiratory disorders, not elsewhere classified

The group of conditions known as Postprocedural respiratory disorders, not elsewhere classified, generally refers to complications affecting the respiratory system, which includes the lungs and airways, following a surgical or medical procedure. Symptoms vary widely depending on the specific disorder, but common signs can include difficulty breathing, coughing, chest discomfort and wheezing. These disorders can occur as a consequence of direct trauma or damage to the respiratory system during a procedure, an infection acquired during hospitalization, an adverse reaction to anesthesia, or a pre-existing respiratory condition that's worsened by the stress of surgery. These conditions can progress and, in severe cases, result in acute complications that can affect the body's ability to provide sufficient oxygen to its cells and tissues, requiring prompt medical management.
