J69.0: Pneumonitis due to food and vomit

You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.

The airways or tissue in the lungs can be damaged if substances get into the lungs. Your lungs have been inflamed by food or vomit.

Due to an inflammation in the lungs, you may have various symptoms. These include shortness of breath, coughing and a high temperature.
