The throat begins behind the mouth and nose. The throat connects the mouth and nose with the windpipe (trachea) and gullet (oesophagus).

Specific pathogens have caused your throat inflammation.

Your throat feels scratchy or sore. Swallowing can be difficult. A throat inflammation can also cause coughing, headaches and a high temperature.
