I82: Other venous embolism and thrombosis
I82.1: Thrombophlebitis migrans
The veins carry the blood to the heart from the body. There is a distinction between deep veins and veins beneath the skin. The veins beneath the skin gather the blood from the skin and carry some of the blood to the deeper veins. The deep veins collect the blood from the organs and muscles. The deep veins then carry the blood towards the heart.
In your case, blood clots have formed in the veins beneath your skin. As a result, the veins have become inflamed. Veins in different parts of the body can be affected. The inflammation can alternate between the leg, arm or abdomen, for example. The cause of the inflammation is often unknown. The inflammations may indicate other disorders.
