I78.9: Disease of capillaries, unspecified

Blood vessels transport the blood from the heart to the different tissues and organs in the body, and back again. In so doing, they provide the tissue and organs with oxygen and nutrients, and remove waste substances. Inside the organs and tissue, the blood flows through very small blood vessels. These small blood vessels have a thin, transparent wall. Oxygen and nutrients can get from the blood to the tissue through this wall.
