I77: Other disorders of arteries and arterioles

I77.1: Stricture of artery

Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.

If an artery narrows a lot, the organ or body part that is affected is only able to receive a very limited blood supply. The affected body part might be painful, or the organ may no longer be able to function properly. An artery can narrow if it is constricted by something, for example. The artery can also narrow if its wall is changed by another disorder.
