I26-I28: Pulmonary heart disease and diseases of pulmonary circulation

Pulmonary heart disease and diseases of pulmonary circulation refer to a diverse group of medical conditions that involve the heart and the network of blood vessels in the lungs. They often occur when there's increased resistance in the lung's blood vessels, leading to high blood pressure in the lungs, known as pulmonary hypertension. This puts more strain on the right side of the heart, causing it to enlarge and weaken, a condition referred to as pulmonary heart disease or cor pulmonale. These diseases can result from various factors, including chronic lung diseases like emphysema, blood clots going to the lungs, or heart valve problems. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, fainting spells and chest pain. Over time, if untreated, they can progress to serious heart failure.
