H13: Disorders of conjunctiva in diseases classified elsewhere

H13.1: Conjunctivitis in infectious and parasitic diseases classified elsewhere

The transparent conjunctiva covers the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Along with the tears, the conjunctiva forms a liquid film on the eye. Together, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, and the liquid film on the eye all protect the eye from external agents. The conjunctiva also helps defend against pathogens.

You have been infected by bacteria. As a result, your conjunctiva has become inflamed.

When the conjunctiva is inflamed it is red and usually swollen. Moreover, the eyes usually get stuck because the eye often excretes more fluid and mucus. The eye may sometimes also be sore and itchy. Pus may also form in the eye. If the eye is irritated, it may also water.
