H10.4: Chronic conjunctivitis
The transparent conjunctiva covers the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Along with the tears, the conjunctiva forms a liquid film on the eye. Together, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, and the liquid film on the eye all protect the eye from external agents. The conjunctiva also helps defend against pathogens.
This conjunctivitis has been there for a long time. Your conjunctiva may have reacted to medications or bacteria. The conjunctiva may also become inflamed sometimes if the eyes have been under constant strain, for example when working with a screen.
Inflammation can cause the conjunctiva to become red and swollen. Moreover, the eyes usually get stuck because the eye often excretes more fluid and mucus.
