H06.1: Parasitic infestation of orbit in diseases classified elsewhere

The eye socket is a bony cavity in the face part of the skull. It is cone-shaped and padded with fatty tissue. Within it, the eye is well protected. The eye muscles, the tear duct and the optic nerve are also located in the eye socket. Parasites are small creatures that, at least for periods of time, live off other creatures. In humans they can cause illnesses. If the eye socket is infected by parasites, it can become inflamed.
