G95: Other diseases of spinal cord
G95.1: Vascular myelopathies
Vascular myelopathies is a medical condition affecting the spinal cord. This issue often arises when the blood supply to the spinal cord is disrupted or reduced, causing damage to this important part of the nervous system. Symptoms may vary greatly depending on which section of the spinal cord is affected and can range from mild to severe changes in muscle strength, sensation or body functions. Patients may experience changes in walking ability, numbness or tingling in their limbs, loss of bladder or bowel control, or other neurological problems. This condition can be due to many causes including blockage, bleed or clot in the blood vessels of the spinal cord. The progression and severity of vascular myelopathies are highly individual and depend largely on the extent of the spinal cord injury and the speed at which medical care is received.
