The brain is made up of several areas. For example, the cerebrum is used to think and plan actions. In the cerebellum, movements are initialized and coordinated. The brain stem is responsible for various unconscious tasks such as breathing. The brain stem passes into the spinal cord.

The brain does not have a lot of room inside the head. When the brain is damaged, it can swell up. Your brain is swollen. When the brain swells up, it can become compressed inside the head. The brain may suffer further damage as a result.

When someone’s brain tissue is damaged, they can have headaches or vomiting, for example. They may also no longer be able to see properly. Some people also lose consciousness.
