G93.5: Compression of brain
The brain is made up of several areas. For example, the cerebrum is used to think and plan actions. In the cerebellum, movements are initialized and coordinated. The brain stem is responsible for various unconscious tasks such as breathing. The brain stem passes into the spinal cord.
The brain does not have a lot of room inside the head. When the pressure in the brain is very great, the brain can become compressed. The brain may be damaged as a result. This is what has happened to you.
When someone’s brain tissue is damaged, they can have headaches or vomiting, for example. They may also no longer be able to see properly. Some people also lose consciousness.
The pressure in the brain may increase, for example, when there is bleeding in the head or when the brain is inflamed.
