The disease is hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
The severity of the symptoms may vary with this disorder. They are sometimes caused by physical work, stress or the cold. When the muscles are very weak the person is usually unable to move properly. The muscles may also be sore and keep going into spasm. It is also possible to have other symptoms. Other organs are also sometimes affected by the disorder.
