G60: Hereditary and idiopathic neuropathy
G60.1: Refsum disease
Your body is unable to break down a certain substance properly. As a result, this substance accumulates and damages, for example, parts of the nervous system.
The nervous system includes all the nerves in the body, as well as the brain and the spinal cord. The nerves run from the brain and spinal cord into the body. They convey information in the body.
Your disorder can result in various symptoms. There can be problems seeing or hearing, for example. The muscles may also get weaker, or you may no longer be able to control mobility processes properly. Internal organs may also be affected.
Your disorder is hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
