F10-F19: Mental and behavioural disorders due to psychoactive substance use

F15: Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of other stimulants, including caffeine

Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of other stimulants, including caffeine, are a group of conditions characterized by specific changes in one's mood, behavior, cognition, and overall mental state, resulting from the excessive or prolonged use of substances such as energy drinks, caffeine pills, certain medications, and illicit drugs like methamphetamines. These substances stimulate the nervous system, leading to an increased heart rate, excessive energy, and more alertness. Over time, this can lead to dependency and alterations in the normal functioning of the brain. Symptoms of these disorders can vary widely and may include feelings of unrest, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, irritability, and in severe cases, paranoia or hallucinations. As the intake of the stimulant continues, the disorders can worsen, potentially disrupting personal, social, or occupational functioning. Note that different stimulants may affect systems of the body differently and can lead to a range of health challenges if not managed effectively.
