F11: Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of opioids
F11.3: Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of opioids withdrawal state
Opioids is a group of substances that can relieve pain and, in certain quantities, act as a stimulant. Examples of opioids are the painkillers morphine and tilidine. But the drug heroin is also an opioid. You can become addicted to these substances.
Before an opioid withdrawal the person has usually consumed too many opioids over a long period of time. When someone goes through withdrawal, they have various physical symptoms, because they are consuming fewer or no opioids. They may sweat and have muscle pain or diarrhea, for example.
