E89: Postprocedural endocrine and metabolic disorders, not elsewhere classified

E89.3: Postprocedural hypopituitarism

The pituitary gland is a gland in the brain. Many messenger substances are created for the body in this gland. These messenger substances influence growth, metabolism and sex hormones, for example.

If the pituitary gland does not work enough, the amount of some messenger substances in the blood may be too low. As a result, you may have a wide variety of symptoms. For example, you may not grow properly. The thyroid gland and other glands in the body may sometimes not work properly. Or you might have psychological problems.
