E30.0: Delayed puberty

Puberty is the time in which the body develops from a child’s to an adult’s. In the case of this disease, puberty means physical development. Many messenger substances and sex hormones play a role in puberty. In puberty, you become sexually mature. There are many changes in your body as a result. For example, your body structure changes. Fat distribution in the body thus changes as well.

Puberty should normally be at a particular stage of development at an age of 13.5 years for girls and 14 years for boys. By then, girls should have had their 1st period. Your puberty has begun later. Or puberty development has stopped at a particular stage and is no longer progressing.

There are various signs that puberty is starting. They include for instance starting to grow and getting bigger. Furthermore, you develop a sweaty smell. The pubic hair and underarm hair begin to grow. For girls, the breasts start to grow and for boys, the testicles grow.
