E11.6: Type 2 diabetes mellitus with other specified complications
Type 2 diabetes mellitus with other specified complications (E11.6) is a long-term medical condition in which your body becomes resistant to the normal effects of insulin and/or your body's ability to produce enough insulin is diminished. The key feature of this diagnosis is the presence of additional complications that are directly intertwined with the diabetic condition. These complications, which are specifically identified by the healthcare provider, can vary widely from patient to patient and may include problems with kidneys, eyes, nerves, heart and blood vessels, among others. The severity, course, and rate of progression can differ greatly based on the nature of the specific complication, how well blood sugar levels are managed and individual health variables. Symptoms can include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, slow-healing sores, or frequent infections.
