D29: Benign neoplasm of male genital organs

D29.3: Benign neoplasm: Epididymis

When there is abnormal growth of tissue in an organ, then this is referred to as a tumor. The tissue in the body is made up of cells. A tumor disorder involves the cells multiplying more than normal. This results in abnormal or excess tissue forming. A tumor can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors do not destroy the healthy tissue and do not spread throughout the body.

The epididymides are right next to the testicles. The sperm cells mature and are stored in the epididymes.

The tumor may cause you to experience pain in the epididymides. The tumor may cause the epididymides to be larger or harder than they normally are. The sperm may not mature properly due to the tumor in the epididymis. You may no longer be able to father children as normal. Sometimes you can also have no symptoms at all.
