D10-D36: Benign neoplasms

D25: Leiomyoma of uterus

Leiomyoma of the uterus, also commonly called uterine fibroids, is a group of conditions characterized by the growth of benign (non-cancerous) tumors in the muscle layer of the uterus. These tumors can vary in size - from tiny seedlings that are almost undetectable to the human eye, to large masses that can distort and enlarge the uterus. The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unknown, but it's thought to involve a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Symptoms can include heavy or painful periods, a feeling of fullness in the lower abdomen, frequent urination, lower back pain, constipation, and in some cases, difficulties during pregnancy and labor. The condition can generally be confirmed through imaging tests. This condition does not increase the risk of uterine cancer and rarely develops into cancer.
